Getting away, if only for a few

by Awmber on November 4, 2011

Some days I start getting ready when I don’t have anywhere to go just to distract myself for 20 minutes. Once I start feeling restless I just need to pretend that I’m about to go somewhere to make myself feel more calm. Yesterday was that kind of day – I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere with work, but couldn’t justify taking the rest of the day off. Instead, I put on a little head scarf, did my makeup and watched a bit of Buffy. It felt good to get away, and when I went back to my desk my tasks didn’t seem as daunting as they originally did.

Is the getting dressed up thing just something I do, or do other people to it too? What do you do when you’re feeling restless?

You’re not alone in this. When I’m feeling restless, I do things like journal, pray, do some chores around the house, take a hot shower, read the paper, or go for a walk. I do feel a lot better after. There are times when just dressing up, accessorizing, or putting on some makeup makes a whole lot of difference to my day.
That headband looks great. Love the pattern and the colour of it. Happy Friday! :)

Oh yes….I definitely get ready when I’m feeling restless. I think it’s a good way to start off getting things done, you feel fresh, and it’s fun :)

ps. I’m so excited to find another Winnipeg blogger! Do you know of any other Winnipeg bloggers? I’m hoping to create a Winnipeg Blogger Group or do a blogger meet up! Thanks for you help!

Sometimes when I get restless, I’ll get in the car and get coffee and just walk somewhere. Especially when I’m stressed or feel like I can’t get work done. It’s good to just get away for a bit.
